Pic of the week – Ellis Island

I took this pic during my recent visit to NYC. This is one of my all time favorites. The history behind the Ellis Island is quite mind boggling. From 1892 to 1954, over twelve million immigrants entered the United States through the portal of Ellis Island, a small island in New York Harbor. People have travelled thousands of miles by ship to reach this point with a sole dream of making a living in the US… Many American dreams entered through this port… So many people today in the US are able to trace their ancestors back to this point.

I have tried to capture the view that most people would have seen just standing in front of that gate.  It would have been quite emotional – Ecstasy for reaching that place alive and on the other hand would have been really nervous about the immigration process hoping to get in… (I know the feeling… if you know what I mean 😉 )

We visited the Pittsburgh Zoo over the weekend (07/24/2011). I got some really good shots. This is one of my favorites. This Giraffe is one of the 3 at the zoo… She had saliva dripping out of her mouth… Although it does not look cute on humans, it did kind of looked cute on an animal like Giraffe… I hope you like it… Pls return back next week for another wild encounter..

Beautiful Full Moon Sky

It was an absolute feast for our eyes this past full moon day. There was a thin layer of clouds, well spread and the full moon just above the clouds simply lit up the night. This view is from our apartment’s balcony. I actually had to take a couple of pics and stitch them together in photoshop.
